With 15 years of experience developing embedded Linux systems, Embedded Systems Engineer Ross Wille has joined the Niftyware team.
Ross' position is critical in developing software functionality beyond what is provided by the Android SDK.
“We are thrilled to have Ross join our group of software engineers,” stated Niftyware CEO Scott Sampson. “He brings extraordinary skills working with embedded Linux. 25 June 2009 - Niftyware prepares to leverage Flash technologies
During an investor call, Adobe CEO Shantanu Naraye announced that Flash services are coming to Android phones.
“We are bringing Flash Player 10 to smartphone-class devices to enable the latest Web browsing experience.”
Naraye stated, “Multiple partners have already received early versions of this release and we expect to release a beta version
for developers at our MAX Conference in October.” – Source
Adobe Flash 10, which is currently not being made available for RIM’s Blackberry or Apple’s iPhone, presents several strong advantages for the Android developers. Flash allows for web-based applications that can run outside of the Android App Store. Website viewing on Android phones will become more multimedia-enriched. One example of the enriched multimedia includes allowing Android phones to view video from websites like YouTube and Hulu (YouTube on smartphones currently requires a dedicated application for viewing).
Flash also strengthens the user's experience with our products. Niftyware CEO Scott Sampson stated, “Niftyware products will benefit tremendously from Flash animation. Flash allows us to do things above and beyond what the Android 2D and 3D packages allow. Our expertise in Flash will distinguish our products.”
Niftyware currently employs an in-house flash expert, Lead Graphical Designer William Atkinson. Atkinson has spent the last several months developing flash animations that will be incorporated into our product. The User Interface is also easily developed and prototyped in a flash format.
Following the Adobe CEO's announcement, Atkinson stated, “Adobe Flash not only provides extensive animating tools that will greatly enhance Android phones, but the programming capabilities of Flash will enable user interaction and more versatile animations apart from the Android platform.”
“Niftyware's main focus is to provide the world with powerful tools to simplify life. Niftyware products will achieve this simplicity through their functions, features, and by their ability to effectively communicate with the user. By incorporating Flash into their products, the user will experience simplicity and a new level of interaction with the product.”
